Appointments

We operate an appointment system in order to minimise patient waiting time. Each appointment with a doctor is scheduled for 10 minutes. Out of consideration for other patients, please book a separate appointment for each member of the family who wishes to see the doctor or request a double appointment for longer discussions.

Please only use the phone consultation facility when absolutely necessary.

Consulting times

  • Weekdays: 08:30am to 11am and 2pm to 5:30pm
  • Saturday: 8am to midday (one clinic per month)

Urgent appointments

Urgent medical problems will be seen on the same day but not necessarily by the doctor of your choice. Some details may be required by the receptionist to allow the doctor to assess your priority. If you are seen as an emergency, you will asked to come to the surgery at the end of the morning or evening clinics.

To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday) during opening times:

Routine appointments

We offer the facility to book a routine 10 minute appointment with any of our doctors.

To request a routine appointment in advance during opening times:

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.

Enhanced access

The surgery will be open on some Saturdays at our East Harling site. A GP, plus other members of our clinical team will be available for routine consultations. These clinics are primarily for patients who cannot attend the surgery during the week.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • by text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.

Late policy and cancellations

The doctors always try to keep to appointment times but some problems may take longer to deal with and therefore you could incur a longer wait. If you arrive later than 10 minutes after the allocated appointment you may be asked to re-book.

If you are unable to keep or no longer require an appointment, please remember to let us know so that we may offer it to another patient.

To cancel your appointment:

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

It is usually preferable to consult patients at either of the surgeries. If a home visit is necessary, please contact the practice before 11am; this will enable doctors and the emergency care practitioner to plan their rounds and avoid unnecessary delays.

Remember, visits are for those who are housebound or who are too ill to travel to the surgery. Lack of transport is not a reason for a home visit.

Late or non-urgent requests will be at the doctors discretion.

Following discharge from hospital patients are not automatically visited by their GP. Patients are normally visited for medical reasons or complications only.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the surgery in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.
