OUT OF HOURS TELEPHONE NUMBER.

The telephone number for the Out of Hours Service is 111.  Please use this service between 18:30 and 08:00, weekends and bank holidays.

E XTENDED HOURS - SATURDAY MORNING CLINICS

We would like to remind patients that they can book an appointment with both a Doctor or Nurse on Saturday mornings.  Surgerys are held at each site once a month.  These clinics are for pre-bookable appointments only between the hours of 8.00 and 11.45.

 

FLU VACCINATIONS

If you are eligible i.e.65 and over or in the "At Risk Group" with one of the following conditions:-Respiratory, Heart , Kidney , Liver disease. Diabetes, disease of the Nervous system, Immunosuppression, had a Stroke, or are a Carer. Please telephone to make an appointment.

N.B. flu injection provides protection against against the most prevalent flu viruses including the H1N1 (Swine flu) virus.

If you are included in the above you are also eligible for a Pneumococcal Vaccination, if you have not already had one, please ask the receptionist when making your appt as this can be given at the same time, but a longer appointment will be required.

SUMMARY CARE RECORD

You will have received information in the post from NHS Norfolk regarding the creation of a Summary Care Record (SCR). If you have any queries regarding the SCR, in the first instance please contact the NHS Care Records Service Information line on 0845 603 8510, PALS on 0800 587 4132 or visit www.nhscarerecords.nhs.uk

Finally, you may contact the Practice Manager, Wayne Rawlings, or his Assistant, Rebecca Leech, who will try to help with any queries you may have. Please do not book an appointment with your GP specifically to discuss the SCR.

Family Planning

bpAppointments are available during normal clinics for cervical smears, contraception, family planning and general health checks with a Doctor or Practice Nurse. On our behalf the Health Authority operate a call and recall system advising individuals to arrange a cervical smear.

We are able to offer a full and confidential service; appointments are obtained by contacting Reception.

Well Man Check

This is available to all men who have concerns regarding testicular or prostate cancer. Routine appointments can be booked with a Doctor.

Lifestyle Check

We are eager to promote a healthier lifestyle. Blood pressure, weight and routine urine testing can be performed and helpful advice given. Additionally, advice regarding healthy eating and exercise is available. The Health Care Assistant with Practice Nurse support provide appointments for these services during routine clinics (please request a double appointment)

Smoking Cessation

We provide advice on how patients may stop smoking and have details of local Smoking Cessation Clinics.

Travel Vaccinations

All patients requiring information regarding travel vaccinations will need to obtain independent advice from a Private Travel Clinics.  Please click on the 'Travel Clinic' tab above for further information.

Minor Surgery

We are equipped to carry out minor surgery under local anaesthetic thereby avoiding a trip to the hospital. If you feel you may need to make use of this service, please make an appointment to discuss it with one of the doctors.

inhaler2Asthma Clinic

Run by the Practice Nurses for adults and children, and includes: Full education programme, peak flow monitoring, inhaler technique, new medications, nebuliser loan service and self-management plan.

Diabetic Clinic

Run by the Doctor and Practice Nurse and includes: Full education programme, blood sugar measurement and urine test, advice on diet, eye examination, foot care, blood pressure measurement and self-monitoring and management plan. The community dietician provides support to this clinic.

Cardiovascular Clinic

Run by the Doctor and/or Practice Nurse for patients who have the following conditions: Heart disease, high blood pressure, history of stroke. Patients are seen 12-14 monthly to discuss their condition, recent blood test results, medication and monitor their treatment.

Children's Services

Includes immunisations and development checks. You will be called for immunisation for the under 5's automatically by the Health Authority. Please let us know if your child is ill or cannot attend.

From 4th February 2016 the midwife clinic will be held at East Harling every Thursday morning.

Physiotherapy and Chiropody

Referrals to physiotherapy are via a doctor.  For a chiropodist appointment please ask a member of our Reception team who will be able to give details of local providers.

Chaperone Policy

In certain circumstances during an examination of an intimate nature the doctor may ask another member of staff to be present. This is to protect both the doctor and the patient. If a suitable chaperone is not available an alternative appointment will be offered. A patient may of course request a chaperone be present but this may mean that another appointment will be necessary.
